Sherman VC Firefly

This special version of the Firefly doesn't only come with a new style, but also different combat parameters. What has changed? Mostly the top speed, acceleration, traverse speed, as well as the rate of fire of its 17-pounder gun. Let's check it out in detail below!

Gameplay

Compared to the original American Sherman tanks, this vehicle has a similar armour layout, however, it's not really impressive, to say the least. The turret armour and gun mantlet are weaker than the M4A3E8's, so hull-down tactics only work to a certain extent. Looking at the mobility, the Premium version is different from the standard Firefly – the top speed is slightly higher but the engine power is reduced. Either way, it's slow for a medium tank, so you aren't too flexible with it.

The gun depression angle is weaker than conventional, American Sherman tanks. Keep this in mind when peeking over ridgelines.

The main trait of the Sherman VC Firefly is its classic British 17-pounder gun. It saw improvements in terms of rate of fire, making this vehicle a real menace with its higher damage per minute. The damage per shot is decent as well, and the penetration value is top-notch for its tier. However, there are some problems in terms of stabilisation, so avoid moving too much before taking a shot; when fully-aimed, shells hit their target reliably.

Play as a support vehicle. Its gun is capable of reliably damaging even higher-tier tanks, and the good damage per minute will help you rack up high numbers, and consequently Credits and XP. Don't lead the charge, your armour won't protect you from incoming fire – play as a second-line support vehicle instead.

The Sherman VC Firefly is one of the very few Tier VI tanks that can fit a Vertical Stabilizer, which gives it a huge advantage in terms of limiting dispersion penalties. The Coated Optics aim to help you spot enemy tanks fairly early. If you don't care much for that, you can replace it with an Improved Ventilation, granting useful bonuses for your entire crew.
