8,8 cm Pak 43 Jagdtiger

Fitting a medium-calibre gun on such a massive steel beast might look weird at first, but the Jagdtiger 8,8 proves that this combination works just great. Of course, the gameplay changes with a focus on damage per minute instead of per shot but there are also quite a lot of similarities with the regular Jagdtiger. Read on and discover more about this unconventional tank destroyer!

This vehicle benefits from preferential matchmaking – you won't see any Tier X vehicles in your matches. Watch out when playing in a platoon: if a vehicle doesn't have preferential matchmaking, you can also get matched with Tier X tanks.

Gameplay

The armour layout of the Jagdtiger 8,8 is pretty much the same as the regular one, so it works even better in Tier VIII. While it's rather easy to fend off vehicles with low penetration, most Tier VIII and IX vehicles won't have problems penetrating your lower and even upper frontal plate. Hiding it might be difficult because of the huge profile, but the superstructure is extremely hard to crack.

A major weakness of the Jagdtiger 8,8 is its transmission, causing engine damage when hit in the frontal hull. At least, getting hit there doesn't set the engine on fire.

Now to the 8.8 cm gun: the damage per shot is obviously quite low, however, a high rate of fire and great accuracy balance out this weakness easily. As mentioned before, you don't play this vehicle exactly like the regular Jagdtiger but instead you need to adapt your style a little. The Jagdtiger 8,8 can be played both aggressively and passively.

Hold the line with your tank and perforate any opponent that dares push forward. However, you aren't limited to waiting for your targets to expose themselves – play aggressively instead and chase them! Make the best of your damage per minute and shoot them twice or even three times while they can only hit you once. Switch constantly between passive and aggressive play and see those credits rolling!

Despite carrying an 8.8 cm gun, a Large-Caliber Tank Gun Rammer is needed for the Jagdtiger 8,8. This and Improved Ventilation increase the potential damage per minute significantly. The Binocular Telescope grants a great bonus to your view range, and while this vehicle might not be very stealthy, you don't need to be blind, either.
