M48A2 Räumpanzer

An American vehicle fighting for the Germans. As you can inevitably see, this vehicle looks very similar to the M48A5 Patton, except it has a protective shovel at the front, which also makes it comparable to the classic T26E4 SuperPershing, the king of spaced armour. Basically, it seems like a medium tank, but it's not.

Gameplay

The M48A2 Räumpanzer, as mentioned before, is based on the M48 Patton. However, this version has a massive shovel on the lower frontal plate, providing extra protection, especially against HEAT shells. Cool side effect: it makes it harder to aim at the weakest spots, as the shovel covers the entire lower frontal plate. Of course, the turret is quite tough overall, yet you need to pay attention to the commander's cupola, an obvious weak spot. The side armour isn't that thick, be cautious when attempting side-scraping manoeuvres.

Use the superb gun depression to hide big parts of your vehicle, making you even more difficult to take out.

One disadvantage you'll notice immediately is the lower mobility. The acceleration and top speed are both sub-par and resemble heavy tanks. Its armament is a typical 90mm gun with mediocre accuracy, yet great aiming time and stabilisation. This means your gun is most reliable up close but useless on longer distances. The rate of fire is okay, same for the penetration power.  With everything in mind, you'll quickly realise this vehicle is made for battles at the front to take shots here and there, and use your armour to deflect incoming shots.

Recommended Setup

Hover your cursor over the images for more information on each piece of equipment.

We recommend using both the Tank Gun Rammer and the Vertical Stabilizer to increase both your potential damage per minute and the reliability of your gun. Normally we would recommend Coated Optics for medium tanks, but the M48A2 Räumpanzer is an aggressive vehicle, so here we focus on getting the best overall performance with the Improved Ventilation.
