FV1066 Senlac

The FV1066 Senlac resembles the other British light tanks pretty well with its small size and good mobility. Yet it has its very own qualities with a twist to the typical playstyle of its line. This is a vehicle you should definitely check out!

Gameplay

A typical light tank usually has three defining characteristics: mobility, visibility, and stealth. Looking at the FV1066 Senlac, it features good speed, a superb view range, and a high camouflage rating thanks to its low profile. It's safe to say that it is, indeed, a typical light tank and should be played as such. The three characteristics above will also protect you from enemy fire, but your armour certainly won't.

So, how should you play it? There are two ways you can use this Brit:

  • Versatile Supporter: spot enemies whenever required with your effective combination of amazing view range and camouflage value. In close-quarter maps like Himmelsdorf, you should go with your medium tanks, taking shots whenever you can. Still, be careful, as overexposed light tanks don't survive long
  • Specialised Spotter: as the name says, you're focussing on spotting (often passively), trying to stay alive as long as you can. Find the balance between playing aggressively enough to keep the enemy spotted and not exposing yourself too much. The longer you survive, the more dangerous you become

As the cherry on top, we have its QF 20 pounder gun. Its parameters are well-balanced, with no strong or weak points – decent damage paired with fair penetration power, sub-par accuracy balanced out with good stabilisation and fast aiming time. Check out its HE shells though - not only is their damage fairly high, but their penetration is also. With that, you can make other light tanks and squishy targets very, very unhappy. So make sure to carry a couple of those shells with you.

When you engage in combat, use hills to your advantage. The FV1066 Senlac has great gun depression, and if you combine it with its small silhouette, you can become a difficult target while you still taking shots.

Versatile Setup Spotting Setup

Hover your cursor over the images for more information on each piece of equipment.

We have two setups for you, depending on your gameplay preferences. The versatile setup is, as the name suggests, useable in more situations, as you both improve your view range and firepower. However, if you want to go full-on spotting, the latter setup will help you with that. While this is a more specialised setup, rest assured that you boost your camouflage rating and view range to extreme levels.
