Field Modification
Update 1.14 (August 2021)
- Field Modification is a set of tools for fine-tuning specific technical characteristics of your vehicles once they have reached Elite status.
- It's available for all Tier VI–X vehicles, including Collectors', special, and Premium vehicles, but not rentals and vehicles from various special game modes.
- Field Modification consists of three types of modifications:
- Standard
- Unlocked by using Combat XP or Free XP when the Field Modification level is increased
- Provides a small boost to one characteristic, depending on the vehicle's combat role
- Dual
- Purchased using credits
- Allows redistribution of a vehicle’s characteristics to make it more effective in one aspect at the cost of another
- Special
- The first Special Modification enables the Essentials Loadout, an alternative set of shells and consumables.
- The second Special Modification provides you with the Auxiliary Loadout, an alternative set of equipment and directives.
- The third Special Modification allows you to assign a category to a second equipment slot.
- The first two Special Modifications are only available for Tier VI and VII vehicles, but all three are available for Tier VIII–X vehicles.
- Standard
Field Modification is an excellent feature for adjusting your favorite vehicle to your playstyle. Check out our video guide for a demonstration, and make sure you take a look at the available Modifications in your Garage before you hit the "Battle!" button.
Rework of HE Shells
Update 1.13 (June 2021)
- HE shells now deal damage directly at the point of impact.
- HE shells can now penetrate screens, tracks, wheels, and destructible obstacles.
- The behavior of HE shells is more predictable.
- Tactical gameplay, such as considering enemy weak spots and armor layouts, has become more important.
- After exploding, small pieces of spall are scattered inside the vehicle, injuring crew members and causing damage.
Watch our dedicated video guide about the HE shells update for more details, and make sure to check and adjust your loadout before rolling out!
Changes to SPGs and Their Mechanics
Update 1.13 (June 2021)
- Tactical options for SPG attacks and counters were added.
- SPGs are now equipped with three shell types, each with a specific combat purpose, trajectory, and velocity:
- Standard HE shells with stun
- Cause low damage and stun crews for a short period of time
- Feature the lowest velocity of all three shell types but the most comfortable, high-angle trajectory
- Alternative HE shells without stun
- Have a higher velocity but a lower trajectory
- Higher penetration and damage values than standard HE shells
- Able to damage internal modules and injure the crew
- AP shells
- Have the flattest trajectory, greatest penetration values, and highest velocity of all three shell types
- Standard HE shells with stun
- SPG shell tracers are now much brighter and clearer, making it easier to gauge the approximate positions of SPGs and the directions from where they fired, as well as when.
- Sound Detection is a brand-new commander perk that warns of incoming SPG fire and indicates the splash damage radius to trained commanders inside the danger zone.
- Field of fire markers on the minimap indicate the point of impact of SPG shells for 10 seconds.
You can find examples and more details about the changes to SPGs in our dedicated video guide. Check it out and see for yourself what it's now like to play with or against artillery.

- Safe Haven features novelties both in gameplay and visual design.
- A spacious map of 1,000x1,000 meters that is only available for Standard Battles in Tier IV–X vehicles.
- The map can be divided into two large zones:

- The low hills farther inland form a large and picturesque green area that favors faster and less-armored vehicles.
