Inside the Chieftain's Hatch: T28

Commanders!

Players know the wide VIII T28 and related vehicles in its Tech Tree line as slow-moving tank destroyers that pack a punch. But what they may not know is the crew could remove one of the vehicle's twin sets of tracks on each side to allow it to pass through narrow corridors and load it for railway transport.

Join Nicholas "The Chieftain" Moran, one of our tank experts, as he journeys to Ft. Moore in Georgia to examine one of the two existing prototypes. Get a walk-through of the track-removal process, learn how the vehicle was initially envisioned (in September 1943) to conquer German Westwall fortifications, and discover how naming and classifying the vehicle was a debate in itself.

This first of two videos covers the exterior of the T28—from the 12 inches of front armor and 105 mm cannon. Keep an eye open for the second video that goes inside and shows how the crew operated the vehicle.
