The eleventh episode of our latest podcast series - "The Finest Half Hour" - is out now!
Two great nations come to grips in the Egyptian sand. The English make a last stand to defend their foothold in North Africa while Rommel races for Alexandria. Will they be able to stop him? Will the British be able to hold the line?
To tell this story, Wargaming has teamed up with The Tank Museum, Bovington to showcase the German Panzer III and the Italian M14/41 tanks that played a central role in Rommel’s Egyptian offensive. The Panzer III Tank served with the 15th Panzer Division of Rommel’s Afrika Korps and probably fought at Alam Halfa. It was captured in August 1942 and brought back to Britain. It was restored to its original condition by Tank Museum staff and volunteers and runs regularly at Museum events. The Italian Carro Armato M14/41 medium tank was essentially an improved version of the M13/40. It used the same chassis as the m13/40 but had a more powerful engine and additional armor. The tank was a decent vehicle when it was introduced, but by 1941-42 it was outclassed by the British and American tanks deployed against it.
