Map Changes

Nebelburg

This map has been redesigned for Standard Battle mode. Its size has been reduced from 1400х1400 m to 1000х1000 m, and it has received a major gameplay update affecting the castle flank, central areas, defensive positions near the bases, and routes used during the later stages of battle.

  • Castle flank (lines 2-3). The direction and its key position around the castle have been significantly reworked. New covers variations support different tactics and engagement ranges. The fortress area is suitable for all vehicle types, with a particular focus on heavy-tank gameplay.
  • Central island (D4-D5, E3-E5). A new island allows fast vehicles—particularly light tanks—to spot opponents early and support neighboring directions, for example by rotating toward the castle flank or assisting allies in the village.
  • Village area (F6-F7, G6-G7). Controlling the village helps secure the center of the map and creates opportunities to provide fire support across multiple flanks.
  • Defensive positions near the bases (F8-E7, H4-H5). New positions for tank destroyers have been added near the southwest and northeast bases. They provide control over the central area, allowing players to cover allied vehicles while not disrupting familiar gameplay in the main combat areas (the castle and the hilly corner along the 0 line).
  • Hilly flank (H7-H0, J7-J0). Dense vegetation and varied terrain offer flexible options for light and medium tanks.
  • Late-battle routes (lines A-B and H-J). The terrain has been adjusted to provide more tactical choices and diversify late-stage gameplay.

Fisherman's Bay

Changes have been implemented to improve tactical flexibility on the western flank, strengthen interaction between vehicle types around the center, and provide additional ways to capture bases.

  • Western flank (E1-F1) and ravine (line 2). An intermediate covered position has been added in the ravine. Around the nearby field area, the terrain has been adjusted and additional vegetation introduced to create more opportunities for fast and maneuverable vehicles.
  • Central support positions (G3-G4, E4-D4, C3, D2). New positions have been added for both teams to improve interaction between vehicle types and enable more effective support between neighboring flanks.
  • Area bases (B4-B5, J5-K5). Small cover elements and vegetation have been added for both teams, adding the possibility to capture the base after winning the flank.
  • Vegetation adjustments (A1, K1). Vegetation density has been reduced in these areas to increase the visibility of distant enemies.
  • Position near the city (E8-F8). Additional vegetation has been added to make movement through the city slightly safer for the southern team.

Overlord

Several key positions have been refined to improve team balance, ease of defense, and consistency between the northern and southern sides of the map.

  • Northern hill (D5) and windmill (E3). The defensive capabilities of the position in D5 have been improved through updated hill geometry and additional vegetation. Cover near the windmill hill in E3 has also been improved for the northern team.
  • Southern cliff position (K2-J2). The terrain has been changed in several areas to remove long-distance firing lines toward the heavy-tank flank and bring the position closer to its northern counterpart.
  • Southern vegetation adjustment (G5). Vegetation density has been increased to improve balance sides.
  • Northern positions (D7-D8, B7). Several positions have been slightly improved for smoother gameplay and overall balance.

Siegfried Line

The field area has been adjusted to provide safer and more varied gameplay for vehicles with higher mobility and improve interaction between the field and city approaches.

  • Field flank. Elevated terrain has been added to create more opportunities for medium and light tanks to use cover and add more tactical variety to the gameplay.
  • Wall firing points (E5, F5). Small openings in the wall allow vehicles near the edge of the city to support allies operating in the field.

Ruinberg

Targeted firing-line adjustments have been made to improve positional balance

  • Small position in (E2-H2). The unfavorable firing line from H2 toward the balcony in E2 has been removed.
  • Position in G1. The firing angle toward this position has been slightly adjusted to prevent players from receiving unexpected cupola hits through windows.

Himmelsdorf

A new tactical option has been introduced for the southern team to improve side balance and provide more flexibility on the western part of the map.

  • New position and route (H2). A new position has been added for the southern team, mirroring the gameplay opportunities available around C3.

Commanders,

The Update 2.4.1 Common Test is here! You can play on the returning Nebelburg map adapted for Random Battles, try out changes to several other locations, experience the brand-new Black Signal mode, preview the Babylon: Dark Tower event, and prepare for Steel Hunter and Frontline launches. Scroll down for the details!

Map Changes

The Nebelburg map from Grand Battles returns, adapted for Random Battles. Several locations (Himmelsdorf, Ruinberg, Siegfried Line, Fisherman's Bay, and Overlord) have received balancing adjustments.

Nebelburg

The map's size has been reduced from 1,400 m × 1,400 m to 1,000 m × 1,000 m. Changes across multiple zones of the location aim to expand tactical opportunities and improve gameplay for all vehicle types.

  • The direction with its key point in the castle (lines 2 and 3) has been significantly reworked. New cover and terrain folds have been added to support various gameplay styles and tactics. The castle is well-suited for all vehicle types, especially heavy tanks (1).
  • In squares D4–D5 and E3–E5, there is a new island that allows fast vehicles (light or medium tanks) to provide early enemy spotting and also assist adjacent flanks—for example, by moving to the heavies' flank in the castle or by supporting allies in the village (2).
  • In squares F6–G7, the village is located. Controlling this area gives the opportunity to secure the center and provide fire support for multiple flanks (3).
  • New TD positions (squares F8–E7 and H4–H5) have been added near the capture circles in the southwest and the northeast. These positions allow you to control the central part of the map and cover allied vehicles (4).
  • In squares H7–G0, there is a hilly area. Dense vegetation and varied terrain on this flank allow for versatile gameplay in light and medium tanks (5).
  • Along lines A–B and H–J, the terrain has been modified to diversify gameplay in the second half of the battle (6).

Himmelsdorf

The changes (which also apply to the Onslaught mode) are aimed at adjusting the balance. The southern team gets a new position in area 1.

Ruinberg

Minor quality-of-life changes are meant to improve gameplay for both teams in the urban blocks, with an advantageous line of fire removed (1) and a firing arc adjusted (2).

Siegfried Line

Minor changes have been made, which also apply to Onslaught. The fields near the town (1) now have more terrain folds to increase chances of survival. Breaches in the wall (2) allow for more interaction between the city edge and the fields.

Fisherman's Bay

The changes are aimed at improving interaction between vehicle types across the flanks—by adding new and varied positions and cover (areas 1, 2, 3). Vegetation density has been reduced for some zones (4) and increased for the area used by the southern team to approach the city blocks (5).

Overlord

The changes aim to adjust the side balance, mostly to strengthen the northern team. Their positions have been bolstered in two areas (1, 4), plus the southern team's overly advantageous lines of fire from area 2 have been adjusted.  Vegetation density has been increased for the southern team in area 3.

Black Signal

This brand-new mode is based around capturing and controlling multiple, initially neutral bases. The key features are:

  • Play 7v7 in Tier X vehicles only with no SPGs.
  • Capture and control Zones. Each controlled Zone generates points for the team in possession every 5 seconds. The team with the most points wins (when the time runs out or by reaching a points threshold).
  • Restore HP and ammo on Zone capture.
  • Respawn: You can choose a different loadout or vehicle, and select where to reappear. You are immune to damage for 10 seconds after you respawn.
  • Available maps: Murovanka, Safe Haven, Pilsen.
  • Complete the 12-Stage event Progression for the plot involving the Architect, plus the rewards (the Common Test version rewards are not final).

Babylon: Dark Tower

The beloved co-op mode returns! Witness the conclusion of the epic story arc spanning the last two Babylon events in the Mirny-13 universe. Face echo tank hordes again, with:

  • New boss fights
  • A new anomaly buff system
  • Phase modifiers
  • New enemy types
  • A new player vehicle

Moreover, Babylon: Dark Tower will have a couple of major "first-evers": one of the bosses moves on mechanical legs rather than tracks, and there's a twist to the event plot unlike any other in the history of World of Tanks.

The Common Test version of the event will offer placeholder rewards.

Steel Hunter

The battle royale mode returns, its zesty essence unchanged: survive, loot, escape dangerous zones in time, and improve your special ride on the go. As always, there can be only one player or Platoon in the end.

Frontline

Frontline is coming back with another helping of intense tactical 30v30 action on huge maps you will be able to enjoy later on live servers.

Spotlight

Starting with version 2.4.1, Spotlight will only have a short version, thereby leaving players more time to assess the pre-battle situation (team setups, map, etc.).
