Tank destroyers are a different kind of vehicle to standard tanks. Of course, the first obvious difference is their tiny profile as they are usually much smaller than tanks. Take every advantage of this to hide behind the elements in the landscape!
The other difference becomes most apparent when you drive them. Very few tank destroyers have a turret, which mean that you will need to rotate the entire vehicle to aim. This brings its own dangers – if you move the whole vehicle, you could be seen. Some of the American tank destroyers included in our special do have a turret. Why not experiment and find out the differences by trying out the M36 Slugger, T25/2 or T49? Be careful though – whilst the turret does confer benefits in terms of mobility, the turreted line has less armour than their non-turreted brethren.
However, tank destroyers enjoy the benefit of having the most powerful guns in the game. Their great penetration values and the good accuracy are something to be savoured and enjoyed! Hide in the shadows and snipe at your opponents. If your hiding place is discovered , you can still get a point-blank shot off and destroy your opponent! Take security in your thick frontal armour but avoid exposing the weak sports on your flanks. Tank destroyers are the quiet beetles hidden behind the bushes, seeing far away and shooting at long ranger without being seen. However, if you cannot find a good position to ambush, then don’t be afraid to move forward and support your team mates from behind the front lines.
