One should play cautiously in this vehicle. The sloped armor of the turret's upper part provides decent protection since the effective armor is 200 mm and higher, but the lower part of the turret is quite vulnerable. The vehicle has good mobility, so use it to stay out of the enemy's line of fire.

For a heavy tank, the T77 has great specific power and a nice top speed. In most combat situations, this vehicle can effectively support allied medium tanks. As for heavies, they'll always be forced to eat the T77's dust.

Firepower

Time to check out the most explosive and impressive part of the tank. The T77 packs an almighty 1080 damage burst within only four seconds with three shells. Combining that with a strong standard penetration of 232mm APCR shells and high penetration on HEAT shells, you will make sure that you either take a big bite out of every healthy opponent or provide the killing blow to anyone unlucky enough to run into you in the latter stages of a round.

Meanwhile, the 299mm penetration on the special shells is the highest values among all tier VIII heavy tanks. In addition, compared to other tanks with a 360 alpha on tier VIII (such as the VIII Tiger II  or VIII Bat.-Châtillon Bourrasque ), you have a higher caliber gun (120mm instead of 105mm) which results in more module damage. Putting three shots into the same opponents will boost up your damage with ammo rack explosions or fires. Just beware, that the long reload of the clip leads to bad DPM (although this is nothing unusual for tanks with a magazine).

Having great standard penetration helps to better earn credits with the tank as the shells cost less than 1,000.

Survivability

While the T77 is not lightly armored, it is not a typical heavy tank. The 1450 HP allows you to be a little gung ho and can afford you some mistakes, but you should not be the tank leading the charge or trading shots 1 on 1 with enemies.

The tank is most comparable to the  X T57 Heavy Tank , with a sloped upper hull that can bounce shots. Your upper armour can resist fire from medium penetration guns, but you should not rely on the ability to take heavy hits.

Mobility

The T77's lack of heavy armor works to its advantage here. With a top speed of 48km/h, this heavy tank may not wear the toughest armor, but it manoeuvres with great agility across the battlefield.

The power to weight ratio is up there with most heavies and the surprising speed means you will be able to support allied mediums, relocate and fall back where other heavies would need to be bound on that flank. Your mobility can also counteract the long reload time. Just beware of the poor reverse speed - don't be too greedy, as you will not be able to get back into cover immediately.

'Repair' is crucial as a first skill to remain in the game for longer. You shouldn't lead the charge or fight in the first line, but even in the second line, your tracks could be destroyed and you don't want to be caught without them. Make sure you are always ready for a quick escape or to change to a more advantageous position. The additional skills improve your gun and your general performance in battle, especially 'Brothers in Arms'.

The view range of that vehicle is not fantastic, so we recommend getting the "situational awareness" skill for your commander as soon as possible.

The crew layout mirrors the  X T57 Heavy Tank , a tech tree tier X vehicle. We recommend using that crew if you have researched that line already.
