HOW TO PLAY | FIREPOWER | SURVIVABILITY | MOBILITY | EQUIPMENT | CREW | WHERE TO GET

Commanders!

Do you like a heavy tank that is comfortable on slopes and can dominate key positions in battle?

While its designs may never have left the drawing board, this versatile brawler's solid turret, 250 mm of frontal armor, and good –10/+20 gun depression angles make the Concept 1B right at home on hilly terrain. Its excellent maneuverability allows it to sidestep flankers and respond with an average damage of 400 HP both with standard (APCR) and special (HEAT) shells.

Learn how to command this dynamic Tier IX American heavy tank today. See you on the battlefield!

All in all, this tank is all about making the most of your surroundings, especially uneven terrain. Once you master this tank, you'll be able to beat enemies simply by thinking ahead and positioning yourself well.

The Concept 1B's fine mobility paired with good DPM makes for a very versatile playstyle as you can choose between taking the approach of a “heavium” while the frontal turret armor lends itself to hull-down brawls as well.

Take time to study the setup of both teams at the start of each battle very carefully to gauge which approach will lead to the greatest success.

Firepower

Time for something a little more explosive! The Concept 1B boasts great standard rounds with good 258 mm APCR penetration and a nice 1478 m/s shell velocity—enough to give your enemies all sorts of pain on the battlefield. Yet while the DPM falls within the upper third compared to same-tier heavies, the HEAT rounds compare poorly to its counterparts.

Limber up and use its great flexibility to your advantage. The 10° gun depression and 20° elevation give you precious gains against opponents.

Equip HE shells to boost your damage and deal an average 515 damage to lightly-armored targets.

Survivability

The terrain is going to be your best friend with the Concept 1B. Using elevated or ridgeline positions will make your cupola hard to hit, while the great frontal turret protection and well-angled upper hull and driver’s hatch will deflect most shots from fearless predators.

The gun depression plays in your favor here, while the 120mm of side armour lets you side scrape reliably against enemy vehicles. Just make sure not to expose too much of your elevated engine area toward the rear of the tank and always turn the formidable front of your turret towards your enemy to hide the weaker sides.

The weak hull roofs make this tank an attractive target for SPGs, so stick close to buildings and other obstacles, such as big rocks.

Mobility

The Concept 1B's fantastic power-to-weight ratio and tank traverse speed is one of its trump cards. It is comfortable wandering around the battlefield and getting itself out of the trickiest of situations.

You will be able to relocate in the later stages of the game and you will not struggle to manoeuvre in hilly terrain due to your throaty 900 horsepower engine and 18 km/h reverse speed.

It is unlikely that you will spot, catch up with, or hide from every enemy, so play to your main strengths and use your fearsome firepower to get you out of tough spots.

Equipment

Check out the setup below to ensure the maximum performance of your tank. We recommend you equip the Gun Rammer + Vertical Stabilizer, and then fill the third slot according to your playstyle.

Recommended Setup

Add Improved Ventilation to boost the maximum performance of your gun. An even higher rate of fire, better dispersion values, and a general boost will maximize your average amount of damage so you can take out your opponents even faster.

Adding a Turbocharger will improve on the already impressive, medium tank-like power-to-weight ratio and get you close to a top speed of 50 km/h. That will enable you to reach positions in which you can use your heavy tank-like armor and firepower to brawl against mediums.

The Improved Hardening is a slightly more defensive option. It increases your track repair speed, which can be very useful in a lot of combat situations. Boost your HP to gain an advantage when trading shots or ensure you minimize module damage.

Crew Skills

Commander
Gunner
Driver
Loader

Hover your cursor over the images for more information on each crew skill or perk.

'Repair' is crucial as a first skill to remain in the game for longer, while 'Sixth Sense' is mandatory on any heavy tank. The additional skills improve your gun and your general performance in battle, especially 'Brothers in Arms.'

With a 400 m base view range, you cannot rely on boosting this value with optics, but do make sure to use the situational awareness skill. Meanwhile, skills like 'Snap Shot' for the Gunner, 'Smooth Ride' for the Driver and 'Safe Stowage' for the Loader are recommended.

Where to Get It
