Experience the biggest refresh to World of Tanks' visual and sound effects since 2018. More than just making battles look and sound better, the overhaul delivers clearer combat feedback that helps you instantly recognize penetrations, ricochets, blocked shots, and incoming fire without relying solely on the UI.
From Update 2.4 onward, flashes, impacts, sparks, and echoes have all been redesigned to complement gameplay. The result is richer visual and audible feedback that helps you read the battle while remaining focused on the action.
Many aspects of combat have received attention, from the moment a shell leaves the barrel to the smoke drifting away after impact. Distinct visual effects for muzzle flashes, penetrations, ricochets, blocked shots, armor deformation, smoke, sparks, and fire all work together to help you understand exactly what happened.
Use the interactive demonstration below to compare shell types and shot outcomes, and see how the new visual system delivers immediate combat feedback.
More impressive effects shouldn't mean losing sight of your target. Building on the object transparency while aiming feature introduced in Update 2.3, a new aiming visibility option reduces the impact of visual effects around your reticle, helping you maintain a clear view while preserving the spectacle across the rest of the battlefield.
The effect intensity and the transparency level of objects can be adjusted in the Graphics Settings tab. Whether you're tracking a fast-moving light tank or lining up a long-range shot, it keeps the information that matters front and center without diminishing the overall intensity of combat.
The audio experience has also been rebuilt to make every battle feel more dynamic. Gunfire now changes depending on its surroundings, whether you're firing across open terrain or inside enclosed spaces, with echoes and reflections adapting to the environment.
Explore the demonstrations below to compare different gun calibers and environments. For the best experience, put on a pair of headphones.
These improvements are the result of years of work to unify and modernize World of Tanks' visual and sound effects into a single system. Rather than simply replacing old effects, the new framework makes combat clearer today while providing the flexibility to continue improving individual effects in future updates.
This is only the beginning. Experience the new system for yourself and share your feedback to help shape future refinements.
