Object 268 Version 4

At the very top of the Soviet tank destroyer line, you'll find the Object 268 Version 4. With similar gameplay to the SU-101 and the Object 263, this one feels like a great improvement, securing its place as a top-tier assault gun. Let's see what this big boy has to offer.

Gameplay

Throughout the entire line, the vehicles boast good speed combined with great frontal armour, and the Object 268 Version 4 is no different. Unlike its predecessor, the first lower frontal plate is no longer a weak spot, quite the opposite. This allows you to push the frontlines and intercept any opponent before they have even positioned yet. Avoid long-range engagements if possible but also keep your distance from the enemy, preferably 50 to 150 metres.

There are two main weak spots frontally: the upper, strongly angled plate as well as the lowest frontal plate (the small one). If you are too close to your target, taller targets may easily penetrate your upper plate while smaller ones can punch through the lowest one. Because of the low traverse speed, faster opponents can flank you easily, even with your good backwards speed. Make sure you have allies covering your back, otherwise you won't last long.

Uneven terrain will make your life difficult. There are multiple reasons: for one your gun depression value is low, a typical disadvantage of Soviet vehicles. Also, it negates your favourable angles and makes it easier for enemies to penetrate your armour.

The 152 mm gun has rather atypical characteristics compared to what Soviets usually have to offer. For a Tier X tank destroyer, the damage per shot is not as high as those of other nations, and not even the rate of fire can be considered good. Again, keep your distance and reload safely. The aiming time is also rather mediocre, if you want to take shots quickly you need to be close to your opponent. Expose yourself for a short time, deal the damage, and retreat. Don't give the enemy the chance to aim at your weak spots.

Because of the low damage per minute and the fact that the Object 268 Version 4 is prone to getting circled by faster vehicles, the setup above should work really well with this machine. Alternatively, mount an Enhanced Gun Laying Drive in case the aiming time bothers you too much.
