Public Test: New Physics

General News
In other languages: pl de fr es tr cs

The second public test, where you can try out the preliminary version of the new game physics is now open and will last until Monday, 9 March at 00:59 CET (Sunday 8 March at 23:59 UTC).

The new physics include new server-side calculation mechanics that will alter the handling behaviour of vehicles (movement, interaction with other vehicles and objects on maps), adding more realism and variety. Upon introduction of the new physics, the game will calculate vehicles' physical models more accurately, including its gearbox, engine RPM, and more.

Please note the new physics will not be released in Update 9.7.

Features of Test 2

List of Changes in Test 2

  • Adjusted the four vehicles that players most often complained about: now their dynamics are consistent with the release dynamics.
  • Dynamic parameters and the durability of the T1 tank are considerably increased to test the physics in the most extreme conditions.
  • Reduced vehicle inertia when braking, thereby fixing the following:
    • Fixed the long braking distance.
    • The “swing” manoeuvre (a quick move forth out of cover and then back) became more controlled and accurate.
    • Manoeuvres became more controlled and dynamic.
    • Reduced the braking distance when chopping deceleration.
  • Disabled friendly fire.
  • 10 maps and 5 vehicles will be available to players within the scope of the test.

Additional Features of the Test of the New Physics

  • The characteristics of all modules and skills that influence the physics in the standard version of the game will be disabled in the Common Test (Clutch Braking, Off-Road Driving, Improved Ventilation, Additional Grousers, etc.)
  • The T-54 and T-62A will be moved to battle tier XI, so that they do not overlap with other vehicles.
  • The logic of the damaged engine functionality will be turned off. The engine in the "yellow" state will be considered intact (not damaged).
  • Login and password must be entered manually (not transferred from the current client).

Features of Test 1

Suspension features:

  • The vehicle will drive over slightly uneven terrain (pits, railroad tracks, curbs) without losing its speed.
  • Upon landing on the ground and at a high enough speed, and if the mass of the vehicle distributes evenly between the two tracks, the vehicle will be able to jump over rows, potholes, etc.
  • Upon handbraking, the vehicle's gun depression angle will increase slightly, because the vehicle's hull inclines a little following the operation of the suspension.

Improvement of vehicle's controllability on the move:

  • Turns will be smoother.
  • Improved control of turn radius — it will be easier to traverse the vehicle's hull by the required number of degrees.

New vehicle manoeuvres using the handbrake:

  • A handbrake turn will result in a sharp change in driving trajectory at sufficient speed (escape turn).
  • Fast turn during reverse movement — by applying the handbrake during a reverse turn, the speed of the turn will be greatly increased.
  • Ability to control the turn radius — using the handbrake will perform a turn faster.

Interaction of vehicles upon collision:

  • There will be the possibility to flip the vehicle over upon collision, if certain requirements are met (difference in objects' masses, sufficient engine power of the vehicle, traction, etc.)
  • There will be the possibility to throw an enemy vehicle off a vertical surface (a bridge, mountain, etc.) That vehicle may consequently flip over.

Interaction with the terrain:

  • Terrain will have an increased influence on the handling of the vehicle during movement.
  • New graphic effect: skidding.

Other changes:

  • The mass of the vehicle and its handling behaviour will be more perceptible.
  • Vehicles will be able to drive over some reasonably high objects on the map.

During the testing, 10 maps and 15 vehicles will be available to players.

How the Public Test Works

New to testing? Check out our handy guide to public tests.

Eligibility: Every player who registered their account before 12 February 2015 can participate in the test.

Feedback: Please post your general feedback about the test version and bug reports in the appropriate threads on our forum.

Test Client Download

  1. Download the test client installer.
  2. Make sure you pick a save location that is different to your regular World of Tanks game files.  Save and run the installer. (4.5MB)
  3. Run the new copy of the game.  The launcher will download all the additional data (2.17 GB).
  4. Log in and start playing.  Remember to post your feedback to this forum thread.

Please be aware of the following: The test server will run in a stand-alone mode, which means that there will be no scheduled restarts taking place. However, the test server may be subject to unscheduled restarts and maintenance.

Thank you for taking part in the public test!  Good luck and have fun!
