What is preloading?
Essentially, you are downloading the files for the upcoming update in advance. These files will only be installed on the day of the official release. The installation will be done after the Wargaming.net Game Center is launched after the work on the game servers is finished.
Does preload affect the ability to play World of Tanks?
Not at all, you can play World of Tanks whenever you want. However, if this feature is enabled, the download process will be automatically paused and resumed immediately after you exit the game. You can pause the download manually at any time.
How do I enable preload?
Go to the Settings tab in Wargaming.net Game Center and make sure the Download previous updates check box is enabled. If the check box was not active and you enabled it, be sure to click the Save button below.
Where are the update files stored? Can I copy them to a portable device and share them with a friend?
Yes, you can share them with your friends, as the update files will be stored in a folder on your computer. By default, this is C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\Updates .
If I click the Pause button, will the download continue next time or will it start again?
The download will resume from where it was stopped.
Can I choose SD/HD client type during pre-download?
No, only files that match the currently installed version will be downloaded.
