This weekend’s special is a grand one because of the historic event that it commemorates. 70 years ago, on 6 June 1944, thousands of Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy in a huge scale invasion known as Operation Overlord. This event came to be considered as the beginning of the end of World War II. This weekend, we pay homage to the brave souls who fought valiantly, often sacrificing their lives, to make the invasion a success and put an end to the Nazi regime in Europe.
