2. Improvements to the new physics and sound

Actualizado

Vehicle movement physics

Improved vehicle movement physics fixed the problems which sometimes faced, such as getting stuck when traversing slopes, reduced speed when driving through small obstacles. Also, new vehicles manoeuvres have appeared.

But besides the positive points, the analysis of players’ feedback has determined a range of valid points that need a solution. The most critical ones are:

Frequent flipping of vehicles when driving at high speed on irregular terrain
  • Frequent flipping of vehicles when driving at high speed on irregular terrain
  • A large amount of damage received when falling
  • Vehicles getting stuck after partial hull contact with an obstacle (houses, rocks, enemy vehicles, etc.)

Sounds

Beside the fixes for physics, Version 9.15 will also slightly amend the new sound system:

  • Improving the sound of a shell hitting a tank
  • Adding a switch-on sound for Binocular Telescope and Camouflage Net
  • Revising criteria of changing the sound of damage penetration, depending on the number of HP taken: 0-17% - small damage, 17-35% - medium damage, more than 35% - high damage
  • Adding the ability to select the type of speaker system (2.0 or 2.1) in the settings menu
  • Supporting modifications of sound component of WoT.

3. Display of Technical Characteristics

Actualizado

Version 9.15 introduces the updated representation of technical characteristics, both for vehicles that are available in the Garage and for vehicles that have not been researched or purchased yet. Players will be able to view parameters for concealment, gun depression/elevation, and some other parameters that were not previously displayed. Dynamic changes for the technical characteristics (depending on the mounted equipment/modules, trained Perks/Skills of the crew members, etc.) have also been implemented.

Below you will find all the details about the updated representation of technical characteristics in the Garage.

New Representation of Technical Characteristics

In the new version, players will be able to select the display format of technical characteristics: in the game settings players can select either the previous display format or the new one: open the game settings and check/uncheck the Display Simple Technical Characteristics in Garage option:

Simple Technical Characteristics - logically grouped advanced vehicle parameters. There are five groups in total: Firepower, Survivability, Mobility, Concealment, and Recon.

  • Firepower - the group of technical characteristics that describe the gun and aiming parameters. It consists of, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Standard Shell Damage
    • Standard Shell Penetration
    • Rate of Fire
    • Gun Reload Time
    • Gun Traverse Speed
    • Gun Elevation/Depression Angles
    • Aiming Time
    • Dispersion at 100 m
    • Average Damage per Minute
  • Survivability - the group of technical characteristics that describe vehicle combat qualities which increase its survivability in battle:
    • Number of vehicle durability points
    • Hull Armor
    • Turret Armor
  • Mobility - the group of technical characteristics that describe vehicle mobility:
    • Weight/Load Limit
    • Engine Power
    • Specific Power (engine power/weight ratio)
    • Speed Limit
    • Traverse Speed
  • Concealment - the characteristic that describes the effectiveness of vehicle concealment:
    • Concealment of a Motionless Vehicle (before and after firing)
    • Concealment of a Moving Vehicle (before and after firing)
  • Recon - the group of technical characteristics that describe the View Range and Signal Range:
    • View Range
    • Signal Range

Each group of technical characteristics has a rating that indicates the effectiveness of each vehicle aspect.

Dynamic Technical Characteristics

Dynamic technical characteristics are particular parameters that can change their value depending on mounted equipment, level of the Major Qualification achieved by the crew members, trained Perks and Skills, particular types of Consumables, etc. Changes to the technical characteristics will be displayed in the Garage. For example, once all crew members train the Brothers in Arms perk, you will be able to see the effect it has upon the technical characteristics of the vehicle.

Tooltips for modules/additional equipment will also change. They will display not only information about the module/additional equipment, but also changes in technical characteristics that will occur after mounting the module/equipment. Now you will be informed about which of the characteristics will be affected after mounting the Improved Ventilation or food consumables.

In addition to the dynamic technical characteristics, the tooltips will display new information. For example, shell tooltips now contain information about armor-piercing capacity at a distance.

Vehicle Preview Mode

The preview mode allows players to view new vehicles before purchasing them, not only in terms of their technical characteristics but the vehicle itself: this means a preview of unpurchased vehicles in the Garage. The preview window can be opened from the Tech Tree and the Armory.

In the preview mode players will be able to view the vehicle and browse its technical characteristics in different configurations (top/stock gun, etc.).

4. Technical Component Upgrade

Actualizado

The new patch updated significantly the technical component of the game: with Update 9.15, we moved to the updated version of the game engine that was being used before. This was a set of technological and architectural changes for the game client, with which the support of DX11 technology became available. With the release of the update, the graphic cards that support DX11 technology switched automatically to using it, graphics processors that do not support DX11 still use DX9.

What benefits are there to using DX11?

The benefits of DX11 are that it brings another visible change to players – possible performance boosts for certain computer configurations. The improvement of performance varies depending on computer configuration. Higher-end PCs see a larger increase in performance: builds with two and more physical processor cores see the most notable difference.

What are the future possibilites with DX11?

DX11 support will allow the adoption of advanced technological solutions from the game industry; in the future, World of Tanks will be able to use the capabilities of most modern PCs effectively. In addition to supporting these features, the new version of the game engine allows opportunites to improve and enhance the visual component of the game. In the future there will be a gradual process of qualitive development of technological components for World of Tanks; this will guarantee benefits for our players, version to version.

Important: To avoid graphical and performance problems, as well as problems with the stability of the client after the update, it is strongly recommended to update the drivers of your graphics card when possible.

In cases where the game client crashes, including due to too high graphic settings, try to reset the game client's settings in the launcher:

  • Start the launcher
  • Click the arrow next to "Play" button
  • Select “Launch the game with reset graphic settings”

If you faced technical problems after updating the game client to Version 9.15, send a ticket to our Customer Service Center. In the ticket, describe the problem in detail and list the actions that you’ve already done to solve it. If the game client has been successfully updated to the latest version, but a problem appeared with its launch or during the game, please, attach a report of WGCheck to the ticket; this may result in an early resolution of the problem. Before you create a ticket, please make sure that the problem is reproduced in the game client without modifications.

5. Other Features

Actualizado

Redesign of Personal Missions

Personal missions – these two words mean a lot to any tanker. This is a new wave of Random battles, which can reward you with unique tanks, credits, female crew and much more.

In the new patch some mission chains for all five types of vehicle will be improved. The changes for personal missions were made based on the results from analysing their completion statistics and community feedback.

New Vehicles Filters in the Garage

One of the new features in 9.15 will be additional garage filters in the “tank carousel”. It will be possible to display the vehicles in the most convenient way for each player. Updated filters will include not only types, tiers and nations of the vehicle, but it’ll also be possible to mark vehicles with the First Victory of the Day bonus. Less time spent searching vehicles = more time battling. Roll out!

Aim improvements

In the aim settings, there will be a new display format: a full solid circle for the Dispersion indicator with a reload indicator. Also, regardless of the chosen display format, the maximum possible zoom will be increased - now players will be able to zoom in their aim by x16 and x25. Previously the maximum zoom was up to x8. The information about the current zoom level will be displayed on the screen as well.

Ping of servers in hangar

Game servers will have their ping displayed, so that you can choose the most comfortable place to play.

Ping – is the response time of your PC to a request. In other words, it’s the period of time taken for a package to be sent from your PC to another PC and return.

Important! Game servers ping is requested only when necessary: when opening the login screen, when choosing a server to join, and when leaving a battle. Therefore, in comparison to third-party modifications, there is almost no load on the connection channel.

Notifications: End of Battle and Base Capturing

There are several factors that determine a victory: player “skill”, teamwork, luck, etc. Attentiveness is also important. Because of how enjoyable the hunt for enemy vehicles can be, it’s easy to forget about the battle timer and miss an opportunity when it runs out: you're busy finding that last light tank and suddenly you realise it's too late to capture the base before the battle ends. Everyone has experienced something like this at least once.

With the release of version 9.15, things will get better: there will be a clear notification about the end of the battle that can't be missed. The notifications will be displayed in two cases: a timer will appear when there are less than two minutes left, and there will also be a timer for the last 20 seconds of battle.

The indicators for base capturing will also improve player comfort. Now, besides showing how close to capture the base is, there will be a number to show how many tanks are participating in the capture, and the remaining time till the base is captured. With this information, you’ll be able to better plan your actions in advance by choosing the time and route to the base, and to estimate the chances of a positive outcome for your capture.

Proving Grounds Improvements

Some changes will be applied to the Proving Grounds mode. Moreover, the team list of Proving grounds has been increased to match the 15x15 format. The minimum number of players needed to form a team is 1. The maximum number of active players in a team is still 7.
