Ural Steel 2012

Commanders,

2011 saw the introduction of the Ural Steel tournament, a mighty eSports affair in which the best teams in the world competed in Moscow for huge prizes.  This year, Ural Steel is bigger and better than ever.  Sixteen teams will be going to Moscow and four of them will be from Europe!

Of course the question on everyone’s minds will surely be ‘Which teams have been chosen?’  Well, that’s still to be decided, and the method of selection will be through a huge tournament here on the EU Server!  That means all teams are eligible to enter and the top four teams will be getting an all-expenses paid trip to Moscow to take part in the finals!  What’s more, those who are attending the final stand the chance to share a prize pool of $77,000!

Here’s the vital info:

Rules
  • Team size = 7 players + 3 reserve.  Teams must be fully registered and approved before playing.  A reserve player may replace a primary player at any time.
  • Maximum tier 8 vehicles.  There are no specific limitations on vehicles, including artillery!
  • Total tier points must not exceed 42.  If any team member is missing, the total tier points are reduced by 1 per missing player.
  • Players can only play for one team in the tournament.
  • Wargaming.net staff and affiliates are prohibited from playing.
  • Team and player names must not violate the Wargaming.net rules.  Any team violating the rules will be disqualified or simply not approved.
  • Each battle lasts for 10 minutes.
  • Use of premium tanks, shells and consumables is allowed.
  • To win, a team needs to destroy all enemy vehicles or capture the enemy base.
  • If a match ends in a draw, both teams will be disqualified for passive play.  This rule is in effect until the finals.
  • Starting spawn points for all games will be automatically allocated by the system.
  • Games cannot be replayed unless an issue with the setup causes a problem.  Unfortunately, we will be unable to restart games due to disconnections or PC crashes.
Maps

The following maps will be played for the tournament:

  1. Ensk
  2. Himmelsdorf
  3. Ruinberg
  4. Steppes
  5. Prokhorovka
  6. Lakeville
Casters

Official casters will be listed on the forum by Bump before any tournament starts.  If an official caster requests entrance to a game then they must be invited.  Please be aware that these rules may change slightly as the tournament progresses.

Prizes

European Tournament – Signups open on Friday July 20th at 15:00 CEST (13:00 GMT). The tournament itself will be held from August 2nd – August 10th. The top four teams will win an all-expenses paid trip to Moscow to take part in the Grand Final.

Grand Final – The finals will take place on the weekend of 15-16th September. 16 teams from around the world will take part (4 from Russia, 4 from EU, 4 from USA, 2 from China, 1 from Vietnam, 1 from South East Asia).  Winners will share a $77,000 prize pool.

Process

You need to register your team by visiting the tournament page on the portal.  Make sure that you click “Apply for Tournament” once your team is completed as we cannot approve any team that doesn’t do this!

Once you have applied with a full team, Bump will review your application.  If your team meets all the criteria in the rules above, then it will be approved.

Teams are automatically invited into games beginning at 18:15 CEST (16:15 GMT) onwards.  For more information on how this works, take a look at this great guide.

If you are looking for team members, visit the Team Up forum on the portal!

Good luck in the tournaments.  May the best teams go to Moscow and bring us back a European win!
