Ranked Battles

Tired of looking for a worthy adversary? Gear up for Ranked Battles — a competitive mode where seasoned players clash with the most formidable opponents, which comes with its due rewards.

The Ranked Battle mode is based on the Standard Battle rules, features XP-based matchmaking, and is only available for Tier X vehicles. You start with no rank and level up by securing victories and collecting chevrons.

Key features of Ranked Battles

  • Tier X vehicles only
  • Standard Battle rules
  • Rank-based matchmaking
  • Seasonal availability
Tier X vehicles only

You can participate in Ranked Battles only in Tier X vehicles.

Standard Battle rules

Just like Standard Battles, the Ranked Battle rules are:

  • Battle format: 15×15
  • Objective: capture the enemy base or destroy all enemy vehicles
  • Battle duration: up to 15 minutes
  • Maps: Abbey, Airfield, Cliff, El Halluf, Fisherman's Bay, Highway, Himmelsdorf, Karelia, Lakeville, Live Oaks, Malinovka, Mannherheim Line, Mountain Pass, Murovanka, Prokhorovka, Redshire, Ruinberg, Sand River, Serene Coast, Siegfried Line, Steppes, Westfield
Rank-based matchmaking

Players are matched according to their ranks, which are earned for effective performance in battle. Each team is made up of players of the same rank. If this isn’t possible, the matchmaker generates rosters with players of different ranks, but of equal value, i.e. each player has an opponent of the same rank.

Seasonal availability

The Ranked Battle mode is available only during a special time period called a Season.

To participate in Ranked Battles:

  1. Select Ranked Battle in the drop-down menu next to the Battle! button.
  2. Choose a Tier X vehicle.
  3. Click Battle!

You can find all the information about your progress, Ranked Battle schedule, rules, and rewards on the Ranked Battle screen:

  1. Select Ranked Battle in the drop-down menu next to the Battle! button.
  2. Click the rank icons under the Battle! button.

All battles take place only during Prime Time. Hover over Ranked Battle in the drop-down menu next to the Battle! button to see the Prime Time schedule.

Progression in Ranked Battles

The main objective of Ranked Battles is to reach one of the prize leagues — Bronze, Silver or Golden — by the end of the Season.

To reach a league, you move through 4 Divisions earning 15 ranks in each. To earn ranks you must collect chevrons. The more battles you win and the more experience you earn, the faster you progress.

Chevrons

To earn a rank, you need to collect a certain number of chevrons. The higher your position by experience in the team score after the battle, the more likely you are to get a chevron. However, when you lose a battle, you may lose a chevron too, and in some cases even end up losing a rank.

How chevrons can be earned and lost:

  • A chevron is earned at the end of each battle. Chevrons are given to the 10 best players on the winning team and to the single best player on the losing team. If you reach the top 3 on a winning team, you will get an extra chevron.
  • A chevron is preserved if you position 11th–15th on the winning team or 2nd–5th on the losing one.
  • A chevron is lost if you position 6th–15th on the losing team.
  • If a battle ends in a draw, both teams are counted as losing teams and get the respective chevron treatment.

Note: the amount of experience earned in a Ranked Battle can be increased by special Role experience.

Ranks

There are 15 ranks within a Division. The starting rank is always permanent. Moreover, the 10th and 13th ranks are temporarily shielded, allowing you to keep your rank even if you end up on a losing team:

  • Rank 10 allows two losing battles.
  • Rank 13 allows one losing battle.

Therefore, the defense capacity of a shield will fall with each battle in which you lose a chevron, but if you earn a chevron, it will be fully restored.

Divisions and Leagues

There are four Divisions in Ranked Battles:

  • Qualification
  • Third Division
  • Second Division
  • First Division

Once you make it to the next Division, you cannot drop to the previous. At the worst you will descend to the starting rank of the current Division.

After earning the 15th rank in the First Division, you get into the Bronze, Silver or Golden league depending on your battle performance in each Division.

To view players’ ratings in leagues, click the rank icon under the Battle! button in your Garage. Go to theSeason Leaderboard tab in the left part of the screen and select a league.

If you enter a league, you get a Reward for league at the end of the Season.

Note: each time you complete a Division or enter a league you get a Rank Token. Collect Rank Tokens to get an Annual Reward.

Player Performance

Your performance is determined by the ratio of the chevrons you earned to the number of battles played. This is the parameter that determines the prize league you will eventually enter.

First, your performance is counted within the Division, and if it is high enough, you receive Bonus Battles after completing this Division.

After you make it through all Divisions, your general performance is counted based on your performance in each Division. By this parameter, all players that have completed all Divisions join the prize leagues:

  • Golden league: top 20% of players
  • Silver league: the next 30% of players
  • Bronze league: the next 50% of players

Bonus Battles

If you have proved yourself effective enough in a Division, you receive Bonus Battles when moving to the next one. A Bonus Battle automatically doubles the chevrons you earn in it, just like it works with the everyday doubled experience for the first victory. If you do not earn chevrons in a Bonus Battle, it is not withdrawn until you have a chevron-winning Bonus Battle.

The availability of Bonus Battles is displayed on the rank icons in your Garage. Vehicles that can take part in a Bonus Battle are marked with a special icon.

Role Experience

You earn Role experience after battle if you not only damage and destroy enemies or help your teammates, but also act according to the typical role for your vehicle. There are seven main vehicle roles in battle:

  • Defender
  • Fire Cover
  • Light Attack Vehicle
  • Heavy Destroyer
  • Sniper
