The Rating System and Matchmaking

Onslaught is a new competitive game mode in World of Tanks. Unlike Random Battles, where the team composition depends on the selected vehicles, Onslaught battles are fought in Tier X vehicles with similarly rated commanders.
The matchmaker considers each player’s position in the Ranked System to find opponents with similar ratings. It will assemble teams of equal strength based on their Rating Points, Division, and Rank. As a result, players will clash in intense battles, fighting on an equal playing ground to see who comes out on top.
For solo players and two-player Platoons:
- Players who are 10 or more Divisions apart cannot be matched in the same battle.
- Solo players and two-player squads are preferably matched against other squads and solo players.
- Only one two-player Platoon is allowed on each team.
For Super Platoons:
- A Super Platoon can include players with any number of Rating Points.
- Super Platoons are always matched against other Super Platoons.
Calculating Rating Points
The number of Rating Points a player receives or loses after a match will depend on the battle outcome and their performance. The system looks at each individual player's performance based on Prestige Points earned and compares it to the team's average performance. Prestige Points are earned for positive combat actions.
For victories in battle:
- The team's average performance is calculated based on Prestige Points earned.
- The distribution of Rating Points will depend on the team's average performance.
- Players performing above average will receive additional Rating Points.
- Players performing below average will receive fewer Rating Points.
For defeats or draws:
- The team's average performance is calculated based on Prestige Points earned.
- The number of Rating Points lost depends on the team's average performance.
- Players performing above the average will lose fewer Rating Points.
- Players performing below the average will lose more Rating Points.
Players are guaranteed to lose a significant number of Rating Points for desertion or inactivity in battle, no matter the battle outcome.
Platoons and Communication
There are three different ways to enter a match in Onslaught.
- A commander can play alone as a solo player
- Players can team up with each other to form two-player Platoons
- Groups of players can band together in a Super Platoon
Super Platoons consist of 7 commanders and can enter an Onslaught battle as a complete team.
The difference in Rating Points for a two-player Platoon cannot exceed 350 points.
A Super Platoon can include players with any number of Rating Points.
Players can choose the same vehicles as their teammates, and there are no restrictions regarding vehicle classes.
Pre-Battle Preparation
After selecting Onslaught mode, you will be taken to the Pre-Battle Preparation screen. This is your opportunity to change your Tier X vehicle, select alternative equipment, shells, or consumables, and coordinate with your team before the end of the countdown.
Keep in mind that only repaired vehicles with a full crew and loaded ammo can be used in this mode.
In-Game Voice Chat
In Onslaught, players will be able to communicate with teammates and coordinate tactics via voice chat.

This feature is disabled by default, but players can enter the voice chat using the "H" key (default) or directly through the mode interface by clicking “Activate Voice Chat.” Players with voice chat enabled are marked with a special speaker icon.
Upon entering the Pre-Battle Preparation screen, the voice chat channels for two-player Platoons and Super Platoons will automatically connect to the team voice chat channel. If a player has not disabled their voice chat while in a Platoon, they will be automatically entered into the team chat at the start of the battle.
The voice chat now preserves its state from the previous battle.
Prestige Points
Earn Prestige Points in Onslaught mode to improve your rating and progress, as well as charge your special Role Skill during battle.

Role Skills
Each of the 15 combat roles features a unique Role Skill that can influence the battle to your advantage. For example, in an assault heavy tank, you can use Field Repairs to create a zone that gradually restores the HP of your vehicle and the vehicles of surrounding teammates. In a versatile light tank, you can use Recon Flight to call in a recon aircraft.
Role Skills can hold three levels of charge. The higher the charge level when the skill is activated, the stronger the effect will be.
- You can increase your charge level by performing positive combat actions to collect Prestige Points.
- Once level one is filled, the Role Skill can be activated. Some skills will already be at charge level one at the start of a battle.
- Activating the skill will use up all of your accumulated charge.
- The Prestige Point counter will not be reset after activating, but the charge accumulation will start over.
- After the cooldown period, the skill can be reused when it reaches charge level one.
- Vehicles with the same combat role all have the same skill.

Points of Interest
Although matches in Onslaught will unfold on familiar battlegrounds, such as Himmelsdorf and Ensk, changes have been made specifically for the new mode. Features such as covers, passageways, buildings, and objects were added or removed to add a bit more competition to these Random Battle maps.
Additionally, special Points of Interest have been introduced to the battlefields. These new points can be captured to unlock Tactical Skills. Unlike the vehicle-specific Role Skills, this new feature is the same for every match and is available to everyone.
Every Onslaught map has two to four Points of Interest and two corresponding Tactical Skills. Capturing a Point of Interest is similar to capturing a base, but there are different capture times and additional restrictions.
Tactical Skills
Artillery Headquarters
Capturing the Artillery Headquarters unlocks an Artillery Strike: After several seconds, the selected area will be attacked by an artillery strike. Targets affected by the airstrike will be damaged and stunned. Allies in the affected area will be stunned but will not receive damage. The Artillery Headquarters can be recaptured after a few minutes. The default activation key is 8.
- The Artillery Headquarters takes 15 seconds to capture.
- Points of Interest can only be captured by one vehicle at a time.
- Causing HP damage or critical damage to the capturing vehicle will reset the capture progress.
- Taking damage while capturing will restrict you from recapturing the point for 5 seconds.
- Allies and opponents can immediately start the capture without restrictions.
- A player can only pick up one Artillery Strike at a time.
- It is still possible to capture a Comms Center regardless of the Artillery Strike status.
- Once an Artillery Headquarters has been captured, it will take 120 seconds to reset.
Comms Center
Capturing a Comms Center unlocks the Divisional Radar Tactical Skill. Upon activation, all enemy vehicles remain spotted for a short period of time. The Comms Center can be recaptured after a few minutes. The default activation key is 9.
- The Comms Center takes 7 seconds to capture.
- A player can only pick up one Divisional Radar at a time.
- It is still possible to capture an Artillery Headquarters regardless of the Divisional Radar status.
- Once a Comms Center has been captured, it will take 120 seconds to reset.
Changes to Maps
Unlike Random Battles, Onslaught mode is only for Tier X matches of 7 commanders per team. To account for this significant difference and increase the competitiveness of the mode, some of the available maps have been updated.

Onslaught Ranks
The game mode features a total of seven Ranks:
- Debutant
- Iron
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Champion
- Legend
The five main Ranks (Debutant to Gold) each consist of four Divisions (A, B, C, and D). All players start in Division D of the Debutant Rank. As you collect points, you will gradually progress to Division A of the Gold Rank. A total of 50 Rating Points are required to advance from one Division to the next, totaling 1,000 Rating Points. Points are earned for victories and lost for defeats, draws, and desertions.
Prestige Ranks
The Champion and Legend Ranks are not divided into Divisions A–D, and there is no fixed number of Rating Points needed to progress from one Rank to another. Instead, the top 10% of players that reach the Champion Rank will automatically advance to the Legend Rank.
The number of players who reach the Legend Rank fluctuates depending on the number of players in the Champion Rank. Rankings for the Champion and Legend Ranks are updated every 15 minutes.

PROGRESSION REWARDS
- Debutant
- Iron
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold

The first line of rewards revolves around a progressive 2D style, featuring accompanying emblems, inscriptions, and Dog Tag customizations. The prizes are awarded based on a player’s progress through the different Ranks and certain achievements in battle.
A New Progressive 2D Style
The most valuable reward is the progressive "Wing and Claw (Crimson)" 2D style, which changes with each new Rank. This style can only be applied to Tier X vehicles and consists of a camouflage pattern, inscriptions, and emblems.
Players will receive the style after playing their first battle in the new mode, and can earn four additional copies for reaching the Bronze, Gold, Champion, and Legend Ranks. One more copy of the style can be received for six Lucky Chips that can be earned for completing weekly missions.
This camouflage pattern evolves the first time a player reaches each new Rank.
Three variations of five emblems and nine unique inscriptions can be obtained by meeting certain conditions in Onslaught mode, such as winning 15 times as part of a Super Platoon or causing 25,000 HP of damage. These special customization elements can only be applied to the Onslaught 2D style.
- Emblems
- Inscriptions

Rental Vehicles
After playing your first battle in Onslaught, you will be awarded three rental vehicles for the mode:
All rental vehicles are replicas of existing tanks with the same characteristics and properties. They will remain on your account until the end of the Season and will be removed when it’s over.
Dog Tag Elements
Players will unlock a unique Dog Tag Background upon reaching each new Rank, from Iron and above. At the Iron Rank, you will also receive an Engraving for Prestige Points earned and at the Silver Rank, you will get an additional Engraving for victories in the current Season.

With the start of the Season, five simple missions become available to you. All missions are completed consecutively, one after another, and for each completed mission, you will receive useful in-game rewards. At the end of the weekly period, your progress is reset, and a new set of the same missions with the same rewards will become available. The list of missions is updated on Monday.
You will also be able to earn Battle Pass Points when playing Onslaught.

Your rewards for earned Lucky Chips will be credited automatically. Once you have collected a certain number of Lucky Chips, you will instantly receive a valuable in-game item.
The Leaderboard
Player activity in the Champion and Legend Ranks is tracked on a dynamic Onslaught Leaderboard in the game client.
A player's position on the Leaderboard depends on the number of Rating Points they have earned. If several players have the same amount of Rating Points, the player who has played more Onslaught battles will take the superior position. The Leaderboard is updated every 15 minutes.
Rank Inactivity
Players in the Silver Rank or higher will lose Rating Points for prolonged inactivity. When a player is placed in one of these four Ranks, each battle will reward them with a certain number of Activity Charges. These charges are rewarded for any outcome in battle, but will not be given to players who are inactive or leave a battle early.
Up to 14 charges can be held in a player's Activity Bar, and they deplete at a rate of –1 charge per day. If a player doesn’t hold any charges at the end of an event day, some of their Rating Points will be deducted, depending on their current Rank.
Activity Charges earned per battle: |
Rating Points lost per day of inactivity: |
|
|
A player with a fully charged Activity Bar has 14 days to resume playing before losing a portion of their Rating Points. Inactivity for a prolonged period of time will result in a demotion to the Bronze A Division.
The Rank Inactivity System allows players to take a break but ensures that the mode stays competitive until the end. Players have to participate continuously in order to hold on to the highest Ranks and earn the best rewards.
Disciplinary Actions
Leaving a battle early or not participating in the action can cause significant disadvantages for your team. Therefore, disciplinary actions and penalties are in place to discourage undesired behavior and sanction players who negatively impact battles.
The following actions will be penalized with temporary blocks and significant deductions to Rating Points:
- Withdrawing from a match while in the Pre-Battle Preparation screen
- Inactivity in battle
- Leaving a battle early
You will lose significantly more Rating Points for desertion and inactivity in battle than for a lost match. Repeat offenses will increase the duration of a player's ban from the game mode.
Take on commanders of equal rating, climb through the Ranks, and earn epic rewards in Onslaught mode.
