Go4WoT 50 – Battle for 3rd place

The 50th Go4WoT burst from the garage this Sunday with the blast of tank fire and the rumble of treads! Red Team1 came through some really amazing games to take first place, but this week we focus on the battle for third place between Odem Mortis – V and the Iron might of the 1SBP Panzer Fist. The games included one of the closest I have seen so far and the series itself was fit for the Go4WoT 50th anniversary.

First of all, the teams:

1SBP Panzer Fist (1SBP)
Amberyta (T32), Syriuz29 (T32), naughtyb (T32), Kellypl (AMX 13 90), Atrus666 (T-50-2), przemol444 (Grille), Maczok (Bison)

Odem Mortis (AMAT VICTORIA CURAM)/ (OM-V)
Burton90 (M26 Pershing), Don_KingH (T32), Moliver2001 (T32), Tankcom (T32), BN96 (AMX 13 90), glenmp (Bison), C4E_Berserker (T1)

Game 1

Map: Mines

What a close game! This was an epic battle you just can’t miss! (Check out the replays below) OM-V started in the south and 1SBP in the north. 1SBP’s AMX 13 90 sped to the middle hill and made it undetected due to OM-V sending their scouts to the east and west to check for the main part of the 1SBP force.

All but one of OM-V’s T32 heavies moved into the middle of the map and started a slow push over the hill, they took some small damage as they neared the top and began to push over, almost killing the AMX of 1SBP which escaped with some excellent driving. Simultaneously the AMX of OM-V moved to the north west and dispatched 1SBP’s Bison and almost killed their Grill which was save by a hero T-50-2 coming back to knock out the AMX. First Blood to OM-V but a poor exchange of a Tier 7 for a tier 2.

Then came the slug fest in the center of the map, three T32s and an AMX 13 90 of 1SBP versus three T32s and an M26 of OM-V, plus artillery fire from both teams. Needless to say, when the dust settled only one of each teams’ T32s remained and OM looked to be on the ropes. Even after a brave comeback by OM-V’s remaining T32, 1SBP took the first match with masterful use of the T-50-2 which survived on 32% health.

Winner of game 1 – 1SBP!

Game 2

Game two could not have been more different. This time both teams started in opposite positions but had very similar strategies to game 1, however this is where the similarity ended.

OM-V began by sending their AMX 13 90 and M26 down the east side of the map, through the town and into the 1SBP base unobstructed, there they found their first victim 1SBP’s Bison which was dispatched with cool efficiency. In the meantime the T32s of OM pushed hard though the middle, making quick work of 1SBPs tanks which were unprotected by their T-50-2 that was scrambling back to defend the artillery,

1SBP’s Grille made a valiant stand but was finally killed by a point blank T32 shell BOOM!

Game 2 goes to OM-V.

Game 3

This game the 1SBP started strong and powered to the hill in the middle of the map, the superior speed of the T-50-2 easily beat the AMX of the OM-V team comfortably and gave them map advantage.

As 1SBP geared up for a repeat of game one disaster struck! Their T-50-2 was caught by the advancing OM-V T32s as it moved back to defend the artillery. This allowed the AMX to skirt round the west side and take out 1SBP’s AMX with some clever team work, however it was then pinned behind a rock at the west side of the map.

The M26 saved the day this time by its fast arrival on the east of the map, powering toward the 1SBP base it distracted the 1SBP T32s just long enough for OM-V’s AMX to slip by and kill off the Bison of 1SBP then a T32 and then 1SBP’s Grille, proving that you don’t need to be the top on kills to have the biggest impact on a game!

Good Job OM-V and well played 1SBP!

Game 3 and third place in the 50th Go4WoT goes to Odem Mortis (AMAT VICTORIA CURAM).
