World of Tanks is a fast paced action packed game with challenging PvP combat. And so it’s only fitting that it would attract many very competitive players. Some of them take their battles to another level, and go head to head in regularly organized E-sports tournaments such as the Go4Wot Cup that happens every week in the ESL.
We at Wargaming support this event and help organize special tournaments (see ESL AllStars Tournament in Cologne) to celebrate the best players of the league and to generally raise awareness for the game.
Today we’re happy to announce that we’re extending our efforts to promote the game in the environment of competitive E-sports gaming, by bringing you a weekly report from the leagues’ frontlines. Our regular coverage will include an overview of the main competitive events with a focus on the finals in the tournament of that particular week. Find out who beat who, what the rankings are, and learn some new strategies when watching replays of exciting battles!
For our premiere edition we’d like to kick it off with a recap of last week’s Go4WoT finals. Be sure to check back every week, to stay up to date with current events from in and around the league.
The 49th Go4WoT kicked off this Sunday, including 61 teams and promising to be a very tense set of games.
As always, the favourites were there; RED team 1 and 2, RT, DRKKA, EPS, 1SBP PzF and the boys from OM. But the Final was to be between DRKKA and RED team1, and what a great set of games it was!
RED team1 (RED)
Angel_killer (Grille), Ec1ipse (Bison), Kirilloid (T32), Straik (AMX 13 90), de1uxe (T32), KillTheRed (T-50-2), Delilash (T32)
Dead Red Army (DRKKA)
Bullkin (T32), Drag_Naight (AMX 13 90), MAX-san (Hummel), MakaronXxX (T32), Onry (T32), Orange34RUS (T-50-2), atomVolgograd (T1)
Map: Arctic Region
RED started north east and DRKKA south west.
Both teams’ scouts sped away to the north west corner, the T-50-2s kicking up dust as they flew past the slower T32s. DRKKA’s scouts appeared to spot the RED scouts first and cut back toward the south (possibly going for a flank through the RED base).
As both teams’ main group of tanks headed to the north west, RED’s T-50-2 spotted the heavies of DRKKA and, more importantly, saw that there were no light scouts with them. It immediately changed direction and headed back to the base in the hopes of cutting off the scouts (a very important call!).
As the main groups of tanks closed in on each other, the T-50-2 carefully circled toward the east of the map and caught sight of DRKKA’s AMX and T-50-2; unfortunately its demise was soon to follow, as the AMX and T-50-2 pushed into RED’s base from the valley in the west. First blood to DRKKA!
RED’s AMX sped back to hold the base push and quickly dispatched DRKKA’s T-50-2 with the help of their Grille, which fired the shot of the match hitting DRKKA’s moving AMX at about 50 meters!
The battle was then between the two groups of T32s in the north west; some amazing shots were fired, but as RED now had the upper hand the result was inevitable.
Game 1 goes to the RED team on tier point victory through clever use of scouts and artillery support.

Bases reversed; RED team south west and DRKKA north east.
This time, DRKKA began aggressively while RED played it a little safer. As the scouts sped away, RED moved with purpose toward the vantage point in the north west and their T-50-2 drove boldly out into the open, catching the entire DRKKA team heading north west at speed. It cleverly dodged five or six shots from DRKKA and got away, but not before RED’s powerful heavies had severely crippled two of DRKKA’s heavies.
RED’s artillery hung back at the base, fearing a quick counter cap as they had an early upper hand, and this paid off as DRKKA’s little T1 light sped into view. However, spotting the T1 proved a lot easier than hitting it, and the Grille took some good damage before yet again firing an excellent shot to take it down.
Ultimately, this game was won by the power houses that were RED’s T32s, as they fired shot after shot into the valiant DRKKA heavies and took the game convincingly.
Game 2, and the tournament, went to the RED team!
