Progressing to the desired vehicle from the current one may take ages and how long these ages will last becomes obvious thanks to WoT calculator.
All you need to do to find out how much in-game gold and experience is required to grind a tank to the target one is Alt+click the current vehicle and the desired one. The calculator will show not only the research cost (minimum and full), but also all possible ways of progressing the vehicle.
