Commanders,

As you know, one of the new features brought to World of Tanks with the 9.5 update is the new German Tier VIII medium tank, the Panther mit 8,8 cm L/71. Curious about what this baby can do? In that case, here’s a handy summary of the vehicle’s characteristics and playstyle:

The Panther mit 8,8 cm L/71

This German Tier VIII medium tank can be seen as the premium counterpart of the Panther II. The vehicles are quite similar in terms of visuals and performance on the battlefield.

Compared to the standard Panther II, this machine boasts improved gun accuracy (0,32), aiming time (2,5) and rate of fire (8,7). On the other hand, it lacks the reliable armour and manoeuvrability of the Panther II.

The tank’s gun is obviously its main asset. This Panther deals with enemy tanks of its tier easily, while the excellent accuracy allows the vehicle to also harass high tier opponents by targeting their weak spots.

The vehicle also boasts great view range (390m) and appropriately defined crew roles: five tankers, each specialising in one field. Therefore, this Panther can serve as an effective training platform for your E 50 and E 50 Ausf. M crews, as well as those of other German medium tanks you may have.

Apart from the aforementioned qualities, the Panther mit 8,8 cm L/71 naturally also inherits all the characteristics every other Panther tank has, such as high silhouette, relatively weak armour, mediocre vertical elevation arcs and rather modest dynamics for the medium tank class. However, fans of German engineering are well aware of this already.

In short, the Panther mit 8.8 cm L/71 is a decent vehicle. It performs effectively both on long and mid-range distances. The tank can provide flank support as well as assist its teammates with long distance sniping.

Last but not least, The Panther mit 8.8 cm L/71 has a good amount of hit points in stock, which is common for most German tanks.

Do you have what it takes to tame this ferocious steel beast, Commanders?
