Meanwhile, back at the Wargaming Booth, Richard The_Challenger Cutland shows off his skills in game with the Type 59.
A re-enactment with the theme of The Battle of Normandy took place in the big arena. We saw a German Panther and an American Tank Destroyer shooting at each other, and the crowd screamed with surprise and joy.
We could also admire the Leclerc tank speeding around the arena leaving a huge cloud of dust!
The afternoon brought the parade of World War II vehicles. Here are a few pictures.
A Valentine tank was one of the first arrivals, followed by an M3 Stuart.
A Panzer III led the way for some German vehicles.
Of course the Tiger I made an appearance.
Then came a Comet followed by a pair of Centurions.
The FT-17 is out on the arena again for a re-enactment, and this time it's on video!
Yesterday we focused on the goings-on inside the museum so today we venture outside. What better to open the show for the day than a Leopard I tank? No? How about two Leopards? Three? The first display had three Leopards driving the circuit in the arena.
A number of re-enactment groups have set up Living History camps in the grounds. This group was portraying the Red Army.
Even the Germans were represented. These groups were re-enacting the Afrika Korps and the German Field Police Force.
The Saumur festival has just opened its doors, and the Napoleonic Army is already in action. We have seen the Horse Grenadiers practicing and the Imperial Gendarmes firing their weapons.
Would things ahve been different if the Napoleonic army had tanks?
It’s an (unusually) gloriously sunny day here at Tankfest! Today, we’re going to bring you pictures of the tanks in action around the festival.
We managed to get a grandstand view of the Tiger 1 driving out of the workshop to take its place at the show. This is the only operational Tiger tank in the world, so being able to see it in action from such a close angle was quite a unique experience.
Here are some pictures from the Saumur festival. You still have the chance to come and admire the tanks and re-enactment scenes tomorrow, Sunday 30th June. You can expect parades, live shows, rolling tanks, horses and plenty of gun shots!
Let’s have a walk-through. First, the Soviet barracks.
Then the American barracks.
Here are some of the tanks that we could see in action throughout the day.
A PanzerII is defeated by a R35.
T-34/85 and Panther firing at each other.
Join us tomorrow for more news from both Bovington and Saumur!

A re-enactment of a French – German battle took place in the big muddy arena. People could admire a FT 17 on the move, whilst infantry were shooting at each other and rolling in the dust.
The Wargaming Booth is full of people! Players young and old have been demonstrating their skills in game.
We still took time to go and admire some of the tanks in the museum. This is a PzKpfw. III.
This JagdPanther is very special as it was actually manufactured by the British! At the end of the war, a German tank factory was captured. The British used the remaining materials and the designs to produce half a dozen German tanks to test out their newer guns on.
Later on today, we’ll be joining Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi for the grand opening of the new Wargaming Education Centre at the museum.
The team presents the latest addition to the Wargaming family, the World of Tanks Xbox 360 edition. This is the first console game for the company, and while some players are still finishing their battles on the computers, the queue is keenly watching the screen to see an exclusive overview of the new armoured opus.
The Xbox 360 version will include all the manoeuvrability and graphics that tank players already know and love. All in all, it will be a tremendous battle experience.
